th a homemade telescope in his backyard. Uranus is a blue green color caused by methane which sucks up red light. It has at least 22 moons. 2 of the biggest are Titania and Oberon and were discovered by William in 1787.
Composition
No one is really sure how Uranus is formed. Scientist can only suspeect, like the other planets, that it was formed from colliding rocks and gas.Scientists

don't know how it was formed because it has no solid surface. It is made up mainly of methane, hydrogen and helium. It makes it difficult to investigate with anything other than a sattelite.
Cordellia
This is an outter moon that orbits in Uranus's rings. It is classified as a shepard moon. It keeps the rocks and dust inside the ring. It was formed by a meteor or meteorite colliding into Uranus and breaking into peices. These peices then got caught in the gravitational pull and now orbits the planet. It was discovered by Voyager 2, a satelite, in 1986. This is the closest moon to Uranus.
Ophelia
This is the second moon for Uranus. It also is considered a shepard moon and orbits the same ring as Cordellia. This moon was also discovered by Voyager 2 in 1986. This moon was named after the daughter of Polonius in Shakespeare's Hamlet.
Bianca The third moon of Uranus, it was discovered by Voyager in 1986. It is small and icy. It is most likely a captured astroid. This moon was named after the sister of Katherine in Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew.
Cressida ,Desdemona, Juliet, Portia,Rosalind, Belinda and Puck These are the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth moons of Uranus. They were all found by Voyager 2 in 1986.
Miranda The eleventh moon of Uranus. This moon is made up of half rocky material and half ice. This moon has a huge cliff that is 5Km high. This moon was named after Prospero's daughter in Shakespeare's The tempest.
The other moons are Ariel, Umbriel, Titania, Oberon, Caliban, Sycorax, Prospero, Setebos, Stephano, and 1986U10.
Observation
Uranus can be observed in multiple ways. It can be seen by the naked eye and be mistaken as a star. It can be seen with binoculars and telescopes. When using these Uranus will appear as a pale blue planet. A way that scientist look at Uranus is with the Hubble Space telescope. The larger the telescope the easier it is to see Uranus and small, faint details.
Epic Trivia
Uranus has a mass 14.5 times that of earth. It's temperature is approximately -300 degrees F on the surface. It take 84 Earth years to travel around the sun and rotates on its axis in 11 hours. [1] It was named after the greek god Uranus, the father of saturn. Saturn is the planet right before Uranus, hence the name.[5] Uranus was one of the first three planets found in our solar system. Some beleive Uranus and othe jovian planets were formed from the original nebula that formed the sun. [5]
